Michelle Nye is a Bay Area artist, curator, arts administrator and advocate whose professional work has supported a thriving regional arts community for over twenty years. Her own art explores themes of home, abandonment, memory, relationship and the environment while her curatorial work touches on those topics and additional themes as well, from women’s rights to diverse expressions of diasporas. A Bay Area native, she received her BA studying studio art, art history and Italian at UCSC, the Università di Bologna, Italia and L’Academia degli Belli Arti di Bologna, Italia, with continuing studies in alternative processes in photography at CCA and the philosophy of art at Stanford.
