Home Dreams explores contrasts in the desire for place. Abandoned sites evoke failed aims and forgotten dreams, and invite imagined renovations and rebirths. The images are 35mm black and white slides projected onto litho film, then exposed on watercolor paper as sun prints using Van Dyke emulsion. Inspired by journal writing, text is inked on each photograph, suggesting past histories. The writings and scenes are obscured by opaque white oils, tinted by glazes of color. The process blurs the edges between the machined and the hand made, the universal and the individual, the manifest and the imaginary.
